Sometimes the party responsible for the taxes on the property weren’t the ones living in the home and relying on that roof over their heads or that heat in the winter.” Therefore, Miller and Sabaugh worked on a plan to send notices to both land owner, tax payer and property being affected by the change. “Notice seemed so obvious, but it had never been done and implemented that way before. It was a real privilege to work with Clerk Sabaugh,” said Miller.

One of Miller’s most visible initiatives as Macomb County Treasurer was the “Keep Macomb Your Home” campaign. The effort was designed to raise awareness among residents who were at risk of losing their homes because of unpaid property taxes.
